Mockups are one of the fastest ways to turn a finished design into something you can sell, pitch, or post. But until now, they were a little too easy to miss because you could only add them from the contextual taskbar after selecting an artboard.

That’s changing.

We’re adding the Mockup library to the left toolbar so it’s always visible and easier to access. The result is simple: less hunting, more shipping and mockups become a natural part of your workflow instead of a hidden step.

Mockups can be added with or without an artboard selected

  • If you select an artboard, the mockup is placed and linked to that artboard (same result as before, just easier to access).
  • If you don’t select an artboard, Kittl inserts a mockup with a placeholder design, so you can drop your design in right after.

How to use

Option 1 (standard)

  1. Select an artboard.
  2. Open Mockups from the contextual taskbar button “Mockup”.
  3. Browse the mockup library and pick a mockup.
  4. Kittl places the mockup on your canvas, linked to the selected artboard.

Option 2 (new)

  1. Select an artboard.
  2. Open “Mockups” from the left toolbar.
  3. Browse the mockup library and pick a mockup.
  4. Kittl places the mockup on your canvas, linked to the selected artboard.

Option 3 (new)

  1. Open “Mockups” from the left toolbar.
  2. Browse the mockup library and pick a mockup.
  3. Kittl places the mockup on your canvas, linked to an artboard with a Placeholder design.
  4. Replace the placeholder design with your own.

When this helps most

  • You’re designing fast and want mockups earlier (not as a final “export step”)
  • You’re building a product set and want to browse mockups as you go
  • You’re starting from a mockup first and then swapping in the right design after

It’s the same Mockups feature — just positioned where it belongs: visible, accessible, and usable whenever you need it.
