Summary

Seedance 2.5 HD is the 1080p delivery tier of ByteDance’s Seedance 2.5, launched 31 July 2026 on Jimeng AI and Doubao Pro with API access via BytePlus ModelArk. It is the same model as the standard tier, not a different one: 4 to 30 seconds in a single continuous pass with multi-round extension, up to 50 reference files in that one pass across 30 images, 10 video clips and 10 audio clips, and audio written jointly with the picture so dialogue in double quotes drives lip-sync inline. An important caveat on the tier itself: the API documents 480p and 720p as the model’s native output, with 1080p and above described as provider-side tiers or super-resolution upscales rather than documented native renders. On Kittl the model appears as two tiers – 720p on Seedance 2.5, 1080p on Seedance 2.5 HD.

Top strengths

Text in Video (4.62/5.0) – printed lettering and wordmarks keep their spelling and position through movement, rotation and lighting change, the failure mode most video models still lose on.

Temporal Consistency (4.62/5.0) – product artwork, labels and illustrated detail hold across a whole take, supported by a reference budget designed for exactly that: 50 files in one pass.

Audio Quality (4.6/5.0) – audio is written jointly with the picture rather than added after, with lip-sync inline, and speech generated natively in eleven languages.

Top gaps

Speed (3.0/5.0) – the weakest capability by a clear margin and the one the HD premium does not improve: both 2.5 tiers list around 180 seconds for a short clip.

Physical plausibility of complex motion – named by ByteDance itself as an area needing improvement, alongside the stability of scenes with several subjects interacting.

Cost with no documented native gain – three times the standard tier’s token rate for a resolution the API does not document as native output.

Best-fit use cases

Long unbroken takes – the option to reach for when a shot has to run longer than 15 seconds without a cut 3.

Reference-locked production – character, set, style and audio held from up to 50 aligned assets in a single request 1 3.

1080p delivery renders – the only tier in the 2.5 family that reaches 1080p on Kittl 7.

2. They must look related while remaining clearly distinguishable.

Wardrobe: every family member wears the same clean, opaque white crew-neck T-shirt in an appropriately fitted size. The shirts have identical fabric, shade of white, neckline, sleeve construction, and minimalist design. No graphics, writing, patterns, branding, or color changes. Pair them with neutral beige, denim, and navy travel clothes.

Setting: a professional photography studio with a seamless cool-gray background and soft gray floor. Include one tripod-mounted instant camera, two studio lights, and several neatly arranged travel bags.

One deliberately impossible detail: a small red hard-shell suitcase floats exactly 20 centimeters above the floor beside the family. It has no stand, strings, hands, or visible support. It remains perfectly suspended at the same height and position throughout every shot, including the final printed photograph. Do not make it fall or correct it back to realistic gravity.

0:00–0:02.5
Maya stands alone in front of the cool-gray backdrop, trying to take a solo holiday portrait. She presses a small camera remote, quickly places it behind her back, straightens her white T-shirt, and gives the camera a slightly uncertain but cheerful model pose. The floating red suitcase is clearly visible beside her.

0:02.5–0:04
Celine enters first and happily steps beside Maya. Maya looks surprised, then places one arm gently around her. Both face the camera in their matching white T-shirts.

0:04–0:05.5
Kevin enters second from the opposite side and joins them. He adjusts his stance, smiles warmly, and keeps the front of his white T-shirt unobstructed.

0:05.5–0:07
Daniel enters third, carrying a small beige travel bag. He places it down, joins the group beside Kevin, and smiles proudly toward the camera.

0:07–0:08.5
Liana enters last and completes the family portrait. She stands beside Maya while everyone naturally moves closer together. All five family members are now visible, happy, healthy, and correctly arranged.

0:08.5–0:10.5
The camera timer flashes. The family holds a joyful holiday pose, then laughs naturally after the shutter fires. The floating suitcase remains motionless beside them. Nobody changes position before the photograph is captured.

0:10.5–0:12
Closing insert: cut to an extreme close-up of the instant photograph sliding out of the camera. The developed picture shows the exact final arrangement of Maya, Celine, Kevin, Daniel, and Liana in their matching white T-shirts against the same gray background. The unsupported red suitcase is visibly floating 20 centimeters above the floor inside the photograph. A hand gently places the photo beside five passports and a folded travel map.

Camera style: clean editorial framing, gentle push-ins, natural eye-level angles, realistic skin texture, soft studio shadows, and warm commercial color grading. Deliver every entrance in the stated order. No family member may appear early, disappear, swap position, or be replaced.

Audio: upbeat, wholesome contemporary pop instrumental, soft timer beeps, light footsteps as each person arrives, one camera-shutter sound, and natural family laughter. One continuous take, no cuts. Natural indoor daylight, autofocus hunting, real handheld chaos, no color grading, no gimbal smoothing.

Reference: @image1 is the appearance reference for the woman — use her facial features, hairstyle and jewellery.
@image2 defines the cap only — its washed brick-red faded cotton, unstructured six-panel shape, curved brim, and the cream block embroidered text across the front in two lines.

Character: Deep brown skin with a natural sheen, very short buzzed hair bleached platinum blonde, high cheekbones, full lips, small silver hoop earrings, a thin delicate silver chain. She wears a cropped black faux-fur jacket over a fitted white tank, low-slung baggy grey cargo trousers, chunky silver rings and white crew socks.

Camera — this is fixed and must not be interpreted any other way: the entire video is the view from the phone’s own front camera. Her right arm is raised up and forward holding the phone above eye level and angled down at her, and that arm, that hand and the phone itself are never visible in the frame at any point. This is not a mirror selfie. She is never seen holding a phone, no phone or screen ever appears in the shot, there is no mirror anywhere in the room, and her reflection never appears. Framed on her head and shoulders from slightly above, looking down at her, with the room behind her.

Eyeline — this is fixed for the entire video: her eyes are on the lens. She looks straight into the camera at the start, and she looks straight into the camera again for the whole product introduction at the end. She only looks away in the moments where the script says she looks off-frame or down at the floor, and she comes straight back to the lens after each one. She never looks at a screen.

Hands: her right arm stays raised out of frame holding the phone from the first frame to the last and never lowers. Every other action — flinching, catching her balance, picking the cap up off the floor and holding it up — is done with her left hand only. She never uses two hands and she never sets the phone down.

Camera movement: every movement in this video is caused by her body, never by an invisible operator. When she flinches the frame lurches backwards and tilts hard with heavy motion blur. When she crouches the frame swings down with her and the background sweeps past. When she stands the frame rises and settles. Autofocus hunts and re-locks after each of those moves. No cuts at any point, no smooth or stabilised movement.

Setting: Her own bedroom in the middle of the day, white walls, an unmade bed behind her, plants on a shelf, pale wooden floor, bright flat daylight from a window. Lived-in and slightly messy. No mirrors.

Performance: Quietly self-absorbed at the start — she is studying her own face in the camera, not performing. The startle is real and physical: a hard flinch backwards, a sharp inhale, a stumbled half-step to catch her balance, not a cartoon jump. It turns straight into curiosity with no pause between them, and then into genuine pleasure once she sees what it is. Happy but not hyped. No mugging.

Audio: Dialogue language: spoken English. No music. Real sound only: the soft flutter of fabric passing close to the phone, the light flop of the cap landing on the wooden floor, her sharp inhale and stumbled footstep, fabric shifting as she crouches, and her breath.

Timeline
00:00 – 00:02: She is looking straight into the lens, slowly turning her face to the left and then back to the right and lifting her chin, studying her own appearance, entirely absorbed. No dialogue.
00:02 – 00:03: The cap flies in fast from off-frame left, tumbling brim over crown and catching air as it goes, passing close past her head with heavy motion blur, and flops down onto the wooden floor below frame. She flinches hard backwards with a sharp inhale, her free left arm coming up, and takes a stumbled half-step back. The frame lurches, tilts and blurs with her, autofocus losing and hunting. Nobody is visible throwing it. {Oh — what’s that?}
00:03 – 00:05: Without pausing she drops straight down into a crouch, the frame swinging down with her and the background sweeping past in a blur, and picks the cap up off the floor by the brim with her left hand.
00:05 – 00:07: She straightens back up, the frame rising and settling crooked before levelling, and turns the cap around so the embroidered front faces the lens squarely, glancing down at it for a beat.
00:07 – 00:10: She looks straight back into the lens and holds the cap up beside her face with the front still toward the camera, breaks into a grin and says, with her eyes on the lens the whole time: {Oh okay — this is actually the one I wanted.} A small beat, then: {The washed red, the cream stitch… yeah. Seedance 2.5 HD, vertical 9:16, cinematic high-speed product videography.

Reference fidelity: Use the uploaded image as the exact starting frame. Preserve the bottle’s shape, green glass, foil, cork, label, colors, reflections, and proportions until the moment of impact. Do not redesign or duplicate the bottle.

Environment: an elegant dark studio with a polished black granite floor featuring subtle white mineral veins. Use one soft overhead spotlight and controlled golden rim lighting. The wet granite, champagne, and glass fragments should produce realistic reflections.

Camera: position the camera close to floor level at a three-quarter angle. Keep the impact point fully visible. Capture the action as if filmed at 120 fps and played back in smooth cinematic slow motion. Use one continuous shot without cuts.

0:00–0:01.3
The sealed champagne bottle falls diagonally from above, rotating naturally under gravity. Its lower side approaches the granite first. The bottle gains speed continuously, while its reflection moves accurately across the polished floor.

0:01.3–0:02.3
The lower side of the bottle strikes the granite with convincing weight. The first fracture begins exactly at the contact point, then branches rapidly through the glass. The bottle collapses into several larger curved pieces and smaller sharp fragments. Each shard inherits momentum from the impact, bouncing, rotating, sliding, and losing speed through friction. The neck and base remain recognizable as heavier fragments.

0:02.3–0:04.8
Pressurized golden champagne bursts outward from the broken bottle at the moment the glass opens. A short plume of white foam rises, then falls back under gravity. The remaining liquid pours from the broken body and spreads across the granite as one continuous shallow sheet.

Conserve the original bottle’s liquid volume. The champagne flows faster near the impact point, then slows and thins as it expands. The liquid follows the subtle texture and slope of the granite, moves around larger glass fragments, carries a few smaller shards briefly, and leaves connected wet trails. Thousands of fine bubbles gather inside the foam and along the edges of the golden liquid.

0:04.8–0:06
The larger shards finish sliding and settle naturally. Smaller fragments make brief final movements before stopping. The champagne continues creeping slowly across the floor while the foam collapses into clusters of bubbles. End on a dramatic macro view of broken green glass surrounded by sparkling golden champagne on reflective black granite.

Physics requirements:

Fractures must originate from the real point of impact.

Every shard must respond to gravity, momentum, collisions, and floor friction.

No fragment may freeze in midair or disappear.

Champagne must emerge only from the broken bottle.

Liquid volume must remain consistent from impact to final frame.

Foam, droplets, wet trails, and glass fragments must persist after they appear.

Reflections must correspond accurately to the moving bottle, shards, and liquid.

Audio: a brief descending bottle movement, one heavy glass impact, a sharp layered shatter, smaller glass fragments sliding and settling, a pressurized champagne burst, liquid splashing, and detailed fizzing bubbles. There is only ever one green t-shirt in the video.

Character: Natural sheen, very short buzzed hair bleached platinum blonde, high cheekbones, full lips, small silver hoop earrings, a thin delicate silver chain. She wears a fitted black ribbed tank top, low-slung baggy grey cargo trousers, a few chunky silver rings and white crew socks.

Performance: The contrast runs from fast asleep to genuinely delighted. She is really asleep at the start and really startled when the shirt lands — a sharp inhale and a flinch, disoriented rather than annoyed, not a cartoon jump. The moment she registers what it is she lights up completely: a spoken “Wow”, eyebrows up, an immediate grin. From there she is warm and talkative about the shirt, happy rather than hyped — the energy of showing a friend something she likes, not presenting to an audience. No mugging, no big theatrical gestures, no shouting.

Setting: Her own living room in the late afternoon. A very large slouchy dark grey beanbag chair set side-on to the camera, a low wooden coffee table, a rug, a plant, warm low sun coming in through a window and falling across her and the beanbag. Lived-in and slightly messy.

Camera: The phone is propped on the coffee table and never moves — same position, angle and height for the whole video, wide enough at the start to see the whole beanbag and her full body. No panning, no tilting, no zoom. The framing only changes because she physically walks toward the lens and fills the frame herself. The camera is never visible.

Audio: Dialogue language: spoken English. A warm mellow soul track playing quietly under the whole clip. Retain the real sounds: the soft slap of fabric landing on her chest, the beanbag beads shifting as she moves, her sharp inhale as she wakes, her socked feet crossing the rug, the snap of the shirt being shaken open, and her breath. No voiceover from anyone else.

Timeline
00:00 – 00:02: Wide framing. She is slumped sideways into the beanbag, deeply asleep, one arm draped over her stomach and her head tipped back, chest rising slowly. Warm sun across her. A calm held beat, nothing happens.
00:02 – 00:03: The folded green t-shirt flies in fast from off-frame right and lands squarely across her chest and chin. Nobody is visible throwing it.
00:03 – 00:05: She jolts awake with a sharp inhale, pulls the shirt off her face with her right hand, blinks hard twice, still half asleep and disoriented — then looks down at what is in her hand and her whole face opens up: {Wow!} Spoken, delighted, not shouted.
00:05 – 00:07: Grinning now, she pushes herself up out of the beanbag in one motion and walks straight toward the camera, shaking the shirt open by both shoulders as she comes, until she is close enough to fill the frame from the waist up.
00:07 – 00:10: Right at the lens now, happy and a little breathless, she holds the shirt up flat in front of her with the printed front squarely facing camera, fabric pulled taut, and says: {Okay — heavyweight cotton, boxy cut, drops right at the hip.}
00:10 – 00:12: She taps the middle of the print twice with one finger, still grinning, and adds: {And this print. It must look moist, rich, spicy, and freshly cooked. The camera slides across the curved glass as warm light travels over it. Glass refraction and chili oil inside the jar subtly distort the view, but every printed character remains sharp, stable, and physically attached to the label.

0:02–0:05: The camera rises above the open jar and pushes into an appetizing macro view of the sauce. Use shallow depth of field to reveal its coarse hand-ground texture, chili fibers, seeds, roasted shallot fragments, and tiny pockets of glossy red oil. A warm highlight travels across the uneven surface, revealing depth and natural moisture.

0:05–0:08: A small wooden spoon presses gently into the sauce and lifts one dense scoop. The mixture clings naturally to the spoon, clearly revealing its chunky ingredients. A thin ribbon of chili oil trails back into the jar while the heavier mixture stays on the spoon. Leave a realistic indentation inside the jar.

0:08–0:10: The jar rotates slowly on a dark stone pedestal while the camera orbits in the opposite direction. The label follows the curved perspective without floating, stretching, flickering, changing spelling, or replacing characters. Behind it, fixed typography reads:

“PEDAS • SPICY • 辛口”

The jar briefly blocks the backdrop text. When revealed again, every character remains in exactly the same position, size, color, and spelling.

0:10–0:12: Finish with the open jar facing forward, the textured spoonful beside it, and the lid resting naturally on the pedestal. A dramatic red-and-gold light sweep reveals both the multilingual label and the sauce’s glossy, coarse texture. Keep the label fully readable in the final frame.

Audio: realistic sizzling, a soft spoon sound, and a warm premium English voice-over saying:

“Bold heat. Kittl’s Verdict

Seedance 2.5 HD is the same model as Seedance 2.5 with a better render and a much bigger bill. Tested on the same briefs word for word, it scores better on nine of ten capabilities, 4.38 overall against 4.32 with more briefs usable on the first pass and none worse than at 720p. The gains concentrate sharply on work that supplies a reference rather than on text-only briefs. If the deliverable ships at 1080p and the brief already works, this is the tier to render it on.

What it does not do is understand your brief any better. Stated quantities, shot counts and scene logic fail at 1080p exactly as they fail at 720p. Speed does not move either, at roughly three minutes per clip on both tiers 7. And the tier itself deserves a caveat: the API documents 480p and 720p as the model’s native output, with higher tiers described as provider-side or upscaled 3, so “HD” is best read as a delivery resolution rather than a native one.

Bottom line: Draft on Seedance 2.5, deliver on Seedance 2.5 HD, and only when the brief supplies a reference. If a text-only brief is still coming back wrong at 720p, rewrite the prompt rather than upgrading the tier.

References

ByteDance Seed — Seedance 2.5 launch post: https://seed.bytedance.com/en/blog/one-take-creation-flexible-referencing-introducing-seedance-2-5 — launch date, duration and multi-round extension, reference limits, joint audio-video, timestamp-level editing, and ByteDance’s own stated limitations

Dreamina, ByteDance — Seedance 2.5 product page: https://dreamina.capcut.com/seedance/seedance-2-5 — the eleven supported languages, 4K and 60 fps premium plans, 180-second long-video beta, multimodal input count, reference-to-video from green screen and white-model plates

fal.ai — Seedance 2.5 vs Seedance 2.0: https://fal.ai/learn/devs/seedance-2-5-vs-seedance-2-0 — native output resolutions, the 50-file reference breakdown, token billing formula, billing on success only, and when to choose 2.5 over 2.0

fal.ai — Seedance 2.5 image-to-video API: https://fal.ai/models/bytedance/seedance-2.5/image-to-video — per-resolution token rates

Arena.ai — leaderboard: https://arena.ai/leaderboard/ — arena placements and confidence intervals for the 720p variant

Artificial Analysis — image-to-video leaderboard: https://artificialanalysis.ai/video/leaderboard/image-to-video — Seedance 2.5 not yet listed

Kittl AI generator model list: https://www.kittl.com/ai-studio — the two Kittl tiers, per-second token rates, listed generation time, duration and aspect-ratio options, and exposed parameters

Last updated: September 2026.
